Beverly J. Bickel
Associate
Beverly J. Bickel is an associate specializing in civil litigation with an emphasis on business litigation and law and motion matters. She is also experienced in the fields of probate, estate planning and trust litigation. She has been a member of the California State Bar since 1995 when she graduated from Loyola Law School.
Ms. Bickel holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from U.C. Irvine, and also studied at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. In 1995, she obtained her law degree from Loyola Law School. While at Loyola Law School, she was Chief Articles Editor of the International and Comparative Law Journal, and published an article (co-authored with a Loyola Marymount professor) on the subject of business regulatory policy and its roots in ancient religious law.
Ms. Bickel is also certified as a commercial arbitrator by the Better Business Bureau. She arbitrated business-related disputes for the Better Business Bureau from 1997 to 2004.
Ms. Bickel has over twenty years of experience as an economist and financial analyst. She worked with technical professionals, including engineers and architects, as a financial analyst, planner and administrator.
Prior to joining Hornberger & Brewer LLP, she successfully defended a tax case which she appealed to the U.S. Tax Court, not only winning the case but also recouping her fees from the IRS, a result which is, according to the IRS Appeals Officer who worked on the case, unprecedented.
When not working on legal issues, Ms. Bickel gives poetry readings and is an avid reader of 16th and 17th Century literature.
